2kings 5:10 And Elisha sent a messenger unto him, saying, Go and wash in Jordan seven times, and thy flesh shall come again to thee, and thou shalt be clean.
2kings 5:11 But Naaman was wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the LORD his God, and strike his hand over the place, and recover the leper.
Matthew 9:20 And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment:
9:21 For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole.
Let me start with a question. How would you feel when you realize that after the struggles and troubles you went through in getting a solution, all you needed to do was just a simple thing. After spending so much money and time, you stumbled upon one thing that could make you better. How would you feel? what will be your reaction? As for me, I will be so disappointed in myself and happy at the same time. My question at that point would be; how could I not know? What happened to my knowledge and qualifications?
There is a story in bible about a woman with an issue of blood for twelve years. She lost a whole lot because of this disease but one thing she didn’t lose was hope. She believed in her heart and she did one simple thing, yes she touched the hem of the garment of Jesus and she was made whole…. Funny, isn’t it?.
2king 5 is one chapter of the bible that amazes me… Why? Naaman is captain of the army for the king of Syria who was down with leprosy. He got a solution from God through a prophet named Elisha. The instruction was for him to wash himself in river Jordan seven times but he was pissed about it. Why? What went wrong? Was the river too dirty? Was it pride? Was it the distance? Then, what?
Reading further, I discovered that it was his servant that persuaded him to do what the prophet of God had said…Is it not disappointing that a servant could know better than the Commander himself? It took me so long before I came to a conclusion that people no longer believe that solutions can come on a platter of gold, at no cost at all but with simple obedience
Understand this, Jesus went through hell by paying the price for us with is life no cost so that we would not have to go through any difficulties in life but to enjoy all this we have to do just one simple thing. That simple thing doesn’t require a price but time and sacrifice not of sheep nor of goat but of obedience.
Sincerely, it can be difficult at times to do that one simple thing in this kind of world we live in but it is the easiest way to our promised land. ‘Believe in God’ that should be simple as ABC.
